model: ADDDNSHIFT

The ADDDNSHIFT is usually centered around architectural lighting fixtures that use DMX512, but are either impossible or difficult to address. There are some DMX fixtures out there that only function as DMX address 1. Others use proprietary methods to set the address remotely. As a result, servicing such fixtures can be difficult. If a fixture is replaced, it must also be addressed properly.

The Addressable Downshifter helps with these situations. It allows the user to install stock fixtures which are typically defaulted to DMX address 1. The DMX address set on the Addressable Downshifter effectively becomes the starting address for the connected fixture. The Addressable Downshifter receives the full DMX packet. An address is set on the Addressable Downshifter using DIP switches accessible from the outside of the unit. Once the desired address is set, the Addressable Downshifter will send the addressed incoming DMX slot value out to the fixture as the first slot. All following slots of data are sent in this downshifted fashion. This is a sort of patching feature.

The Addressable Downshifter always sends a full length packet of data with 512 DMX slots. Because the Addressable Downshifter will have no data after incoming slot 512, it will send zero values in all slots that are not set by the incoming DMX stream. For example, if the Addressable Downshifter is set to address 501, incoming slot 501 will be sent as output slot 1. Incoming 502 will be sent as 2, etc. In this case the outgoing slot 12 will represent the level of incoming slot 512. Outgoing slots 13 - 512 will be sent as zero values.
